The Ivy Bar regains its sparkle following refreshing refurbishments.
Following a recent refurbishment, The Ivy regained its crown as the go-to venue for glitzy Londoners. The jewel in the restoration’s crown has got to be the central coral onyx dining bar, a stunning space that allows theatre into the art of cocktail making and gives diners a chance to get ring side seats to the action.
Darren Ball and Xavier Landais together launch an inspired new cocktail list that will be heralding back to The Ivy’s history and celebrating its drink making talents by bringing back a selection of old favourites.
Classics such as Bees Knees, Strawberry Daiquiri, Pina Colada, and Lapérouse are all given a modern twist. For example the Daiquiri is served with a boule of strawberry sorbet and a carafe of daiquiri on the side, and Espresso Martinis come with miniature shakers of cinnamon, chocolate, and vanilla.
Innovation shines through in Darren’s festive cocktail “The Christmas Carol Old Fashioned”, where he echoes Dickens by looking at the history of Chivas Regal whiskeys in the spirit of Christmas past, present, and future. The cocktail combine’s a 1970’s vintage – the past, a current 12 year old – the present, and a Strathisla single malt that will form the base of a future Chivas Regal blend. Finished off with Scottish honey, bitters, and a flamed orange twist, all poured over a sheet of carved ice into a crystal glass. The cocktail is exclusive to The Ivy and will be available throughout the month of December.
The Ivy is also launching a tableside Whiskey Box, a walnut and leather coffret that’ll hold 14 sample sized bottles of whiskey, ranging from the well known to the rare and limited edition, for diners to choose from.
