Nuno Mendes opens Taberna Do Mercado, a new Portuguese restaurant in Spitalfields Market
Nuno Mendaes is having a cracking few years, with the launch of Chiltern Firehouse and now Taberna Do Mercado, a new Portuguese restaurant in Spitalfields Market.
Helming the new restaurant is head chef Antonio Galapito, who trained in Portugal and has worked at Lyles and White Rabbit. He will be focusing on typical Portuguese cuisine, as well as native craft beers and take-away options.
Taberna Do Mercado will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with Portuguese dishes like corvine belly with tomato oil, cured meats and cuttlefish with pigs trotters on offer.
Designed by Clarise Faria and Nuno, the restaurant has a light feel with exposed brick walls and hanging overhead lights. And downstairs in the kitchen there is a small wine room that will serve as a chef’s table.
