With elegant rooms and a prime location, John Gregory-Smith loved his stay at the Marti Istanbul Hotel
Istanbul is fast becoming my favourite destination for a long weekend. The city has so much to offer, from fabulous food to serious shopping and some of the best cultural sites in the world. It deserves a great hotel and I have found the perfect place for your next trip.
The Marti Istanbul is ideally located for a long weekend slap bang in the centre of town. The hotel is smart and contemporary without being too corporate.
With elegant fixtures and fittings and one of the best beds I have ever slept in, the comfy bedrooms make the perfect base in the vibrant city. There is plenty of space for shopping bags and huge windows offer stunning views of the city. The whole exterior of the hotel is glass fronted to maximise light and space, and looks awesome when lit up at night.
The magnificent marble bathroom has a gigantic glass partition, so that you can soak in the tub and watch TV at the same time, and a simple switch blacks it out for more privacy when you need it. Molton Brown products add an extra touch of luxury and huge fluffy towels hang neatly on a heated rail.
Located in Taksim, the hotel is perfectly situated for an action packed weekend in Istanbul. Enjoy all the fabulous shopping and high end restaurants in Nisantasi or take a stroll down to the Bosporus (about 30 minutes) to walk over the bridge and past the fisherman to the marvel at the Blue Mosque and the other major tourist attractions.
Start the morning in the gym on the top floor of the hotel, overlooking the entire city, and after a long day unwind in the hotels decadent spa, complete with an opulent assure-blue tiled haman and a stunning marble Roman bath.
During the summer months the roof terrace opens for cocktails and makes the perfect spot to watch the city swing into action for another fabulous night.
Rooms at Marti Istanbul Hotel start from £166 based on two people sharing a classic double room
