Say un petit bonjour to all things fantastique with Rachel Khoo’s Frenchy follow-up to the Little Paris Kitchen.
We can hear exclamations of Sacre-Bleu! C’est magnifique! from across the channel, so we’ve been snooping around the new Little French Kitchen to find out why.
Rachel Khoo gained overnight stardom with her quirky cookery series that barely fit the cameras into her tiny Parisian apartment. She’s now branching out from her two-hobbed home to explore the French countryside and get to grips with some serious continental cuisine.
Divided into the different regions of France, the book takes us on a lovely little journey of classic French flavours and cooking, from Bordeaux and its silky smooth namesake wine to the more eclectic cuisine of Alsace, taking some snowy inspiration from its border-buddy Switzerland.
Nothing says bon-appetite quite like a steaming bowl of Basque-inspired clams, flavoured with tender pork and authentic french cider. We can’t think of anything better for a winter’s day than this ‘porc et parlourdes en cocotte’ with a hunk of baguette and a big glass of vin rouge (red wine to you and me). Or if you’re craving some classic French patisserie (Rachel’s speciality) try her flawless praline brioche laced with the pink sugar coated almonds found in every Lyonnais boulangerie.
There’s a recipe for everything in Rachel’s Little French Kitchen, so get those pans out and shout Vive la France!
