Jason Atherton seems to be popping up all over London at the moment and Little Social, opposite his original restaurant Pollen Street Social , opened in March.
Jason Atherton has a CV glittering with culinary stars, working for Gordon Ramsey, Marco Pierre White and Pierre Koffmann before gaining his own Michelin star success at Pollen Street Social. His brand of inventive and intriguing menus have caught the headlines over the last two years. With Little Social he has attempted something more laid-back, something with that same innovative cuisine yet more accessible in a slick and well-accomplished neighbourhood restaurant style.
Little Social feels like a relaxed French bistro, think art nouveau posters, low soporific lighting and Burgundy leather booths that you can sink into for hours. It has a bar equipped with stools for pre-dinner drinks and its location makes it perfect for long business lunches for city workers or even pre-theatre dinners.
The approach from Jason Atherton and his team in the kitchen is seasonal and classic-with-a-twist. Crab and radish salad comes with miso dressing, tea and prune purée accompanies a pork head and foie gras terrine, and a brown sugar tart is topped with a black sesame crumble. Exciting stuff – MSK can’t wait to get a table.
