Foxlow Brunch

Hawksmoor’s baby brother Foxlow is serving up wicked weekend brunches for the hungry masses of Clerkenwell.

Check out Hawksmoor for even more foodie delights.

foxlowWe do love a good brunch here at Eat Travel Live. We positively think it’s the best meal of the day, with just the mere mention of creamy avocado toast topped with a silken poached egg being enough to set our stomachs rumbling. Imagine our joy then to hear that Foxlow, the super slick Clerkenwell restaurant from the gastronomes behind Hawksmoor, has started serving up weekend brunches.

Foxlow oozes style whilst maintaining a casual atmosphere, with muted leather banquettes, bare wooden tables and low lighting providing the perfect setting for curing your weekend induced hangover.

The brunch menu varies from the angelic to the totally decadent, with everything from healthy plates of fruit and yoghurt to gut busting delights like a burger topped with every breakfast food under the sun.

Perusing the short but sweet menu with a few choice cocktails in hand – the Aperol spritz slushie being a particular winner –  we finally decided to throw caution and calories to the wind.

First came the fried chicken, an almost schnitzel like fillet of golden crumbed chicken atop a sweet and chewy croissant waffle, topped with a perfectly wobbling fried egg and smothered in a savoury sausage gravy. It was inhaled.

Being the spice nut I am, I just could not resist the Moroccan baked eggs with sobrasada toast; that’s toast topped with a spicy sausage paste to you and me. The eggs were rich in their spicy pepper and chickpea scattered tomato sauce, with a generous dollop of yoghurt providing a cooling freshness. As for the toast, oh boy, this naughty but nice spicy spread was smooth and oily (in the good way), making it irresistibly dippable. Brunch just gets better and better!
