Bringing the bounty of the Devon coast to London, The Three Compasses pub in Dalston will be hosting a nippy little residency until the end of January from CLAW, who will be serving fresh crab dishes.
The CLAW menu offers five burgers including The Samphire, which consists of Devonshire handpicked crab, iceburg lettuce, samphire and CLAW sauce. The Kimchi is another highlight made with a crab burger, kimchi, and a Sriracha roumelade. There’s also a shrimp burger, a Veggie Burger, and an octopus burger. Sides feature a take on mac & cheese called the Crab Mac, and crab and mozzarella arancini.
The team will also be offering a brunch menu, served between 1pm-4pm on weekends throughout the residency, with menu highlights featuring a lobster BLT, and a crab grilled cheese with chilli and coriander.
Conceived by the 2015 foodprenuer winner Fabian Clark, CLAW aims to put crab back firmly on the map. Apparently 80% of British crab is exported, and in these times of sustainable eating the work Clark is doing to bring attention to this native delicacy is commendable.
