Blackboys Vineyard, one of the smallest in the UK, is going nationwide as Waitrose puts their delicious sparkling wine on the shelves.
Add a little fizz to your dessert with this delicious recipe for blood orange sorbet with Champagne.
It’s time to say cheers to one of the UK’s smallest vineyards, Blackboys, as they’ve managed to get their delightful English sparkling wine onto the shelves of supermarket-giants Waitrose, beating back other Champagnes and sparkling wines to the top spot.
This lovely little vineyard was first planted in East Sussex back in 2007 by wine-amateur Anthony Budd and his wife Zena. In the seven years since, they’ve worked their corks off to create proper British sparkling wine that’s giving it’s brand named competitors a run for their money.
The wine in question is Blackboys award winning Tickerage Classic Cuvee. A refreshing blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. The crisp notes of the blend make it the perfect fizz to serve as an aperitif or with canapés. Hello Christmas parties.
English sparkling wine has been on the rise in recent years, with all our top chefs praising the produce we grow on our green and pleasant land, and Blackboys is the perfect example of why this boutique breed of bubbly is so special.
East Sussex’s chalky soil and balmy climate creates the best fruity grapes with just a little tang to them, making this now nationwide bottle both complex in it’s flavours and utterly delicious! Blackboys, cheers to you!
Blackboys Vineyard Tickerage Classic Cuvee is available online though Waitrose Cellar For £25.99.
The bottle will also be available in store at selected stores.
