Bursting with smoky middle Eastern flavours Berber and Q gets ready for Spring launch.
Taking inspiration for the mangal restaurants of Istanbul, the smoky stalls of Jmaa al Fna and the slick stands of Shipudim in Tel Aviv, Josh Katz is opening his own Middle Eastern restaurant right here in sunny Haggerston.
Josh, previously of Galvin Bistrot de Luxe, Ottolenghi and Zest, will be dishing up vibrant, smoky dishes including tender lamb mechoui with cumin salt, delicate quail with rose and plum yogurt and beef kofta with walnuts and apricot.
Split into four sections; meat, vegetables, sandwiches and sweets, the menu will be changing on a regular basis. And house sauces and grilled Israeli Ciapita will accompany every meal.
All this eating is already sounding like thirsty work, so arak cocktails will be on hand, alongside a hand selected selection of Moroccan and Turkish wines.
