Alavya boutique hotel – Alaçati Turkey

John Gregory-Smith discovered one of the best boutique hotels in the world in the sleepy stone village of Alaçati in Turkey.

Centred around a beautiful swimming pool, striped like a Paul Smith shirt, this stunning hotel is one of the best boutique hotels in the world.

With 25 rooms in 6 rustic stone buildings, Alavya hotel oozes cool 24/7. We stayed for a few days during a rather wet March trip. Our room was clean and contemporary, with lovely soft touches and one of the most comfy beds I have ever slept in. At night, a huge stone fireplace roared into action adding extra warmth to our wonderful room.

A Segafredo coffee machine and idock, complete with loaded ipod, added extra lux touches to the room.

Alavya hotel is by far the coolest boutique hotel in Alaçati, a sleepy stone village on the west coast of Turkey that is surrounded by some of the best beaches in the world. During the hot summer months, guests flock to the blissful beaches and slick beach bars that surround the village on the Çesme peninsular.

As well as the fabulous pool, the hotel offers daily yoga classes, a gym and a hammam to keep you looking and feeling fabulous. For longer stays they have two incredible suites – ‘More Than Just a Suite’ is our favourite, with a huge bath in the centre of the suite, overlooking the striking swimming pool.

We strolled around the picturesque village, grazing in the numerous restaurants, before heading back for a nightcap by the fire at Mitu, the hotels’ restaurant.

The next day we feasted on a traditional Turkish breakfast – eggs, cheese, juicy tomatoes, cucumber, warm breads and luscious honey. Breakfast is a really important meal in Turkey and the hotel does one of the best in Alaçati. We left refreshed and relaxed and already planning our return.

We stayed in a Premium Room at Alavya. Rooms start from €250, off-season.
