The fantastic new Italian restaurant Acciuga recently opened in luxe High Street Kensington and we were lucky enough to ‘go west’ and see what the craic is.
Acciuga’s attentive and immaculately presented staff set the tone for the restaurant’s high-end dining experience. Seating you in the plush, comfortable dining area, they’ll select a snazzy little number from their small but perfectly formed wine list and suggest dishes from their weekly menu to suit your tastes.
Their menu includes such gourmet Italian treats as the seafood crostini de mari antipasti, a superb Gnocchetti with Baccalà primi, and veal tongue with three delectable sauces. The portions are perfectly sized so that it’s not only perfectly viable to eat all three courses (and a dessert – chocolate flan, obviously), but it’d be rude not to. Plus, you’d be missing out, because that gnocchetti will gnoc your socks off.
The wines are top draw, with their really rather not ‘house wine-y’ house wine costing £25.50 a bottle (very important), and a huge selection of others to choose from on their larger wine list (ask). With a staple menu plus their changing weekly menu, there’s loads to choose from and it all looked amazing – we’re going back to work our way through every dish!
